Why Science of Diving Specialty?

The SSI Science of Diving Specialty is the best program to learn in-depth information about diving physics, physiology, and your dive equipment. With this program, you’ll develop a complete understanding of the underwater world and its effect on the human body. You’ll acquire the knowledge you need to begin your dive professional career and earn the SSI Science of Diving Specialty certification. Science of Diving is required training for most SSI Professional programs, as well as some Extended Range programs, and is an essential way to expand your dive knowledge. Available online, you can earn your SSI Science of Diving Specialty certification from home. Upon completion, you’ll be halfway to earning the coveted SSI Divemaster rating.

  • No certifications needed for this specialty

  • Minimum age: 10

  • Study the eco-friendly digital course materials at home then schedule virtual or in-person class time.

  • Recommended Course Hours: 6
