Wreck diving is an incredibly special experience. You’ll dive into the past and unlock the mysteries of the deep with Sea Level Diving's Wreck Diving Certification in McHenry County. Our wreck diving course is your gateway to exploring sunken vessels, airplanes, and automobiles. The Wreck Diver Specialty course introduces you to wreck diving and helps you develop the skills and knowledge necessary for safe and fun wreck diving. This is the basic Wreck Diver course which gives the diver the knowledge to safely dive around, but not penetrate, shipwrecks and artificial reefs. With personalized training, you'll learn the ins and outs of safe diving while gaining the skills to navigate and admire these historical sites.  

What do I need to start?

  • Open Water certification

  • Minimum age: 10

What will I do?

  • The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, and hazards of wreck diving

How long will it take?

  • Minimum Open Water Training: 2 dives over one day

What will I need to study?

  • Digital training materials

Course fee, including training materials and park entrance fees: $210.00

Advanced Wreck Diver Course

Why Advanced Wreck Diver?

Sometimes just looking around the wreck is not enough, you have to go in it to see the real history of the wreck. The advanced Wreck Diver course teaches you to safely penetrate the wreck using line reels and other special equipment.   

What do I need to start

  • Basic Wreck Diver
  • Minimum age: 15
  • Minimum 24 logged dives

What will I do?

  • The planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, and hazards of wreck diving
  • use of redundant air sources, line reels, line markers, flashlights, and other special equipment
  • Penetrate the wreck within the light zone

How long will it take?

  • Minimum Open Water Training: 4 dives over two days

What will I need to study?

  • Digital training materials

Course fee, including training materials: $190.00  (2 dives) Additional Charter boat fees will apply.

 

The Wreck Diver course is scheduled for June 8 or August 17 at Mermet Springs.

The Advanced Wreck Diver Course is scheduled for June 9 or August 18 at Mermet Spring.
